While most guides attend weekly meetings, Lone Guides attend their
meetings on paper.
Lone Guides are grouped into Patrols, just as in any other Guide Unit. Patrol Leader elections are held at the beginning of every year. A Patrol points system operates with points given for letters posted to Leader, challenges completed, etc. At various times throughout the year there may be points awarded for returning things as requested.
We usually have eleven meetings a year, having a break during January the same as regular Units do. One of the meetings each year is prepared by the Patrol Leader.
How does a Lone Guide progress with her activities, interest badges and Peak Achievement Award? The answer is that she does it in much the same way as any Guide does - but mainly by correspondence.
For the purpose of interest badge assessment, joining in an occasional Guide activity and going camping, she has the help of Leaders in her local area, with the permission of her Lone Leader.
Additional information on how to join SA Lones and application forms can be obtained by sending us an email or completing the enquiry form.
