For girls aged between 7 and
11 years of age.
Just
as many other units meet weekly, so do Lone Satellite Guides, but we don’t
leave home! Each girl has a computer
on her property – located in their home school room, and our leader joins us
from School of the Air in Broken Hill. We
can see our leader on the screen, and talk to her via satellite.
The unit members live on stations, often many hours from Broken Hill.
Our weekly meetings last half an hour and include roll call, news, games, cooking or craft....sometimes a guest speaker will demonstrate a craft or hobby or speak to us on a particular subject.
Lone
Satellite Guides also receive a package from their leader each month which
includes a newsletter, any badges gained, craft materials and directions,
cooking recipe and activities for a different theme each month.
About
once a term, girls have the opportunity to meet with their leader and other
guides when they come to town for activities at the school.
They are invited to join with the local Broken Hill units for special
activities. Lone Satellite Guides also attend unit and other camps when
possible.
Additional information on how to join SA Lones and application forms can be obtained by sending us an email or completing the enquiry form.
